Vertigo

Vertigo in medical terms is described as a movement disorder characterised by rotation. People often describe that it feels like being on a roundabout. Vertigo can be a symptom of inner ear disease although can also be caused by other conditions such as migraine.

The commonest reasons to have vertigo from an inner ear problem are crystals in in the inner ear (BPPV), acute failure of the balance system due to inflammation or infection or Meniere’s disease. A thorough history and examination can usually unpick these conditions and provide you with diagnosis and management plan.
